Trio Dive International - Education Through Experience

PADI Rescue

    Rewarding, Challenging and fun!

The PADI Rescue Diver course will expand your diving knowledge and experience. You will learn how to look beyond yourself and consider the safety and well being of other divers around you.

Although the Rescue diver course is very serious, it is a very enjoyable way to build your confidence. To enrol on the PADI Rescue Diver course you need to be certified as a PADI Advanced Open Water Diver and be qualified and current in First Aid care.  We usually run an Emergency First Response course alongside the Rescue Diver Course for those not already qualified from another profession. The minimum age for this course is 15 but there is a Junior Rescue Diver Certification for children aged 12.

The Rescue Diver Course will prepare you to help prevent problems and if necessary, manage dive emergencies.  During the sessions you will cover:

Self Rescue, AED and emergency oxygen delivery systems, diver first aid, swimming and non-swimming rescue techniques, emergency management and equipment, panicked diver response, underwater problems, missing diver procedures, surfacing the unconscious diver, in-water rescue breathing protocols, egress (exits), first aid procedures for pressure related accidents, dive accident scenarios.

  Creating Confidence to Care

This or some other form of First Aid is a pre-requisite to receiving certification of the PADI Rescue Diver. The PADI EFR course is split into two parts Primary and Secondary Care.

The Primary Care section of the course teaches you how to respond to life threatening emergencies and helps to give you the confidence to provide care if a real life emergency were to arise.  Skills such as scene assessment, barrier use, primary assessment, rescue breathing, airway management, bleeding management and shock management are taught.

The Secondary Care section of the course covers injury and illness which are not immediately life threatening and this part of the course focuses on first aid.  We teach skills such as injury assessment, illness assessment, bandaging, splinting for dislocations and fractures, electrical injuries and burn injuries.

Certification following this course is valid for 2 years after which a re-fresher will be needed to ensure that you stay current will any changes.  The course is performance based and usually take a Saturday to complete.
